New Children’s Art Gallery Opens in Princeton

Red Green Blue to showcase art by children in local schools

Princeton – October 24, 2006 – Celebrating the one-year anniversary of its opening, Red Green Blue, a craft studio and gift gallery in downtown Princeton, announces the creation of a new children’s art gallery. The gallery, located inside Red Green Blue at 4 Hulfish Street, will feature art by children from Princeton area schools. The first exhibit, from Riverside Elementary School, will be on display throughout November.

The gallery will be dedicated at Red Green Blue’s anniversary party on Friday, November 3, beginning at 4:30 pm. The public is welcome.

“Children are always proud of the work they do in our studio, so we were inspired to give them a place to show off some of their other creations,” says Karyn Greco, owner of Red Green Blue. “Our mission at Red Green Blue is to promote creative self-expression, and we look forward to seeing the many ways in which Princeton area children will be expressing themselves in our gallery. It should be fun for them, and I know it will be exciting for us.”

The new gallery will feature art from a different school each month. The list of future exhibitors already includes The Hun School of Princeton, Community Park Elementary School, The Lewis School and Chapin School. “The schools have responded enthusiastically,” says Ms. Greco. “We’re happy to be in a position to support art education in our schools, especially given the important role art plays in the development of children. Providing this service to the community is very gratifying.” Adds Ken Wilkie, art teacher at Riverside Elementary School, “We're very pleased to have a place to show our students' artwork.  Art is fundamental to their education and a great vehicle for self-expression."

Red Green Blue offers a drop-in craft studio, gift gallery and party space in a lively downtown location. The studio features a variety of media ranging from glass fusing to silk painting to mosaic, with projects for all ages. Red Green Blue is open Tuesday through Thursday from 10 am to 6 pm, Friday and Saturday from 10 am to 8:30 pm, and Sunday from noon to 5 pm.
